Next Meeting: Nominations of Officers Officers Meeting 7:00 PM Membership Meeting 7:30PM News Our current lease has been purchased by the state. We are being told we are good until 2011, then we will be on a two year phase out. During this phase out we would be able to ride only where they tell us we can. The lease holders that have cabins will be given a one acre window during the phase out. The state is planning on putting a public park on that property (we all know what that means). More we would have to give a 90 day termination letter to be released from the current lease, in September. The welcome sign, trail signs, culvert and bridges will have to be removed or we will be charged for there removal by the lessor. The members at February’s meeting voted to obtain more information on the proposed property located in Hadley. Hadley property GOOD • a 2400 acre private lease • Big tow vehicle parking lot Capability • ATV riding • Snowmobile • Hunting • Primitive Camping • Picnics • Hiking (with great Views) • Ability to maintain trails • Ability to hold events, poker runs, rides, ect. BAD • Price of insurance • Lease price will go up. LEASE AMOUNT $15,000.00 PER YEAR INSURANCE $2500.00 A YEAR We will have to increase membership and/or raise membership dues to make the property self supporting. We will be discussing: • The price of the lease • The price of insurance • The possible increase of membership dues. • What we want to have stated in the lease agreement. As you know, the Access Initiative is dedicated to supporting the greater OHV community through its funding of projects promoting safe, responsible riding and open, sustainable riding areas. Part of that effort involves keeping abreast of the Federal policies and procedures under consideration by various government agencies. Today, there are two issues you should be aware of and TAKE ACTION on in support of your OHV community. Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Asso ciation Urges Enthusiasts and Industry to Comment on CPSC’s ROV Rulemaking The Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association (ROHVA) is calling on enthusiasts and industry representatives to submit comments by March 15, 2010 in response to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) proposed mandatory standards for Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles (ROVs), also known as side-by-sides and UTVs. Could have used a little more snow but for the most part it came in a manageable level compared to the 32 feet we accumulated last year. I found out again the hard way that you can’t under estimate the snow. I purchased my 2nd 2 up with a much better and studded track. Following 12 inches of wet snow decide fool hardly to try and make a loop around the field and up the hill behind my house. I blame it on the dog for running in front of me but lost speed and stopped at a 45 degree angle buried in a 6 foot deep snow drift. After 1.5 hrs shoveled it out and backed 20 feet to turn out of the rut and bring her back to hard ground. I surely miss my dozer and have it on my spring to do list. Have enjoyed a break in the politics, as I have groomed through the winter with the Winona Forest group. With the current insurance issue we have put many projects on hold until we can clear up the terminology and coverage for the landowners. We at this point will not be illegible to join in THATAVA lacking an approved policy so we will not be selling any trail permits or benefiting from any of there fund raisers. Having built multi use trails and wishing to continue to do so, encourage all to fund those that attempt to do more than ride on a road as we develop more off highway legal and safe trails. Will keep everyone updated as soon as the info comes in. My paying job needs me so will end this saga for the month. Until we meet on the Trails Ride Safe. President's Budget Proposal Would Slash Trail Funding The current federal budget proposal calls for a $100 million cut in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Capital Improvement and Maintenance (CIM) program. We have a potential "New" riding area for the Central Chapter. Ted Filer from Filer's Powersports has 218 acres in South Bristol that he is willing to let the Chapter use. The property is the old "Ski Valley" lodge. A few of us went out a few weeks ago to take a look at it and it has a lot of potential for us to use. There's a lodge "that needs a lot of work" but there are bathrooms, water, heat, out buildings and lots of trails all ready on the property. I have scheduled our next meeting there. March 14, 2pm. Please feel free to bring your ATV to ride around and check things out. The landowner will also be there to give us an overview of the property. We need members support to make this all happen. So please mark your calendars! MARCH 14, 2pm. Hope to see you there! Below are the directions: Take 64 South and go past Bristol Mountain. Take the first right past Bristol Mountain. Follow the road to West Hollow Road. Turn Left on West Hollow Road and drive about 1 mile. You will see overgrown ski slopes, old t-bar, lodge and pond. Turn right into the parking lot and the lodge is right there. ~ Joanne %ImprovesFuelEconomy&EnginePerformance %ReducesHarmfulExhaustEmissions&Smoke %ReducesCarbonRelatedProblems %KeepsValves&InjectorsClean %ColdWeatherProtectionforGas&DieselEngines2or4CycleEnginesFuelPerformanceProductsBobCoons585-662-8107 FuelPP@rochester.rr.comCarvernPetrochemicalDealer %ATVs%DirtBikes%Snowmobiles%LawnMowers%Boats%Motorhomes Chapter Events NYTRO Western Chapter Meetings: • TBA Western Chapter Upcoming Events: • April 25th Majectic trails • May weekend 29,30,31 Susquehannock trails • June 23th Willow creek trail • July weekend 2,3,4 Marienville trail • August 21,or 22, trail to be announced • September 3,4,5,6 Susquehannock trails • October 10th Majestic trails NYTRO Central Chapter Meetings: • TBA NYTRO Central Chapter Events: • TBA NYTRO Eastern Chapter Meetings: • MONTHLY MEETING Bentley's Restaurant, Route 9 Malta, NY, 1/4 Mile South of Northway Exit 13S. That’s because it has all the answers to all the questions I ever had about trailers and their use. Written by Clint even is one for your light trailer, The Trailer Handbook – A Guide to Understanding Trailers and Towing Safety, is actually a far more valuable publication in most respects. It starts with the basics and does not assume that the reader knows anything about trailers and towing. Furthermore, it is very well illustrated with photographs, line drawings, charts, graphs, and check lists that help the reader understand key concepts. It also includes a good list of reference resources and a very valuable glossary of terms that will definitely help the uninitiated get up to speed quickly. And all this makes it a very valuable resource for anyone who is getting into hauling a trailer. Even someone who has been trailering for years can learn a lot from this book, especially if they are moving from a small trailer to something larger and more complex.
