We have some important stuff that needs to be talked about and we will try again at this month’s meeting. If there is no membership support then the officers will make the decisions for the club. The second half of the land lease will be up at the end of April and the club has only about $1,800.00 dollars left in the bank. We will need around $5,400.00 to make this lease payment. We have a couple of things we can do get the members that have not renewed to do so, or bring in some new members or a fund raiser that we can pull off in a really short time or drop our lease back down to the old lease if they will let us or lose the land all together. NYTRO newsletter has been costing the club around $83.00 a month for the letter and mailing. This fee was supposed to go away when the newsletter got enough advertisement to cover the cost. We have not heard any more about it going away so we need your opinion and vote to keep getting a newsletter or drop the newsletter to have that extra money put toward the lease. Events: We should have the ATV pulls at the Washington county fair. That will help build up the bank account. Can anyone come up with different events that we can do or know of any other fair that we might be able to get into for a second pull or something? Five members attended in February and ten members and one guest (who became a member) attended in March. The treasurer’s report was given. Stace, then Pam presented information on a possible land opportunity for the club consisting of 1000 acres. The officers will attend a meeting in the near future with the land owner and report back to the club. We may need to add a work requirement to the membership requirements to support this endeavor. Leroy reported that the enduro club in Hancock might be interested in working with us to host some events on their property. There are approximately 1,000 acres with existing trails that need to be cleaned. They already have parking and camping available, too. We are working on firming up the annual Memorial Day weekend ride at Susquehannock and Sproul state forests in PA. Looks like we will head to Sproul on Sunday, May 25th and then up to Susquehannock on Monday, May 26th. We will spend the night in Renovo, PA. So get those rooms reserved! We discussed the possible work opportunity for Miles Mountain Hare Scrambles in June, but voted to not pursue it as we cannot work out a trail use for work arrangement. Being bombarded with so many negative adds lately, many express their apathy in our political system. Voting for the less evil, rather than the positive. Even the presidential race seems to be more about blasting your opponent than what you stand for or plan on doing. I wish we had people so eager in our clubs to fill an office or committee. I guess the difference is it all comes down to the almighty buck for them, rather than the love of what we do for us. Moving on. As spring approaches we again find us in the waiting mode. Need ”A” for a Trail, but need to get “B” before you can do “C” which requires “A”. You all know how that goes. Calendar updates: April 12th will be the “Spring SNIRT Run” estimated to be several thousand ATV’s from all over the state converging on the Tug Hill Region, Lewis County. It was hoped that the date would be moved to a later one preventing the possible trail damage. A lot depends on Mother Nature and the ATVer staying on the designated routes. May 3rd will be a trail fundraiser for Lewis County; check the websites for further information. Depending on Jefferson County legislators and their support, we hope to have our own Trail Fund ride also in the spring. For now just some pre planning is going on. You know the “A, B, C” thing. Even with the increase or expansion of the ATVing group in our area we have seen several companies drop the ATV line or possibly closing all together. Too much to soon? Membership ~ It continues to concern me that most people have no problems dropping $50.00 to $100.00 on a weekend outing yet hesitate to support on the average a $25.00 a year club membership. Looking and listening to various recreational and social groups this seems to becoming a national trend. Everyone around us is seeing reduced activity and support. Is it our changing life styles or society itself? So as I end the sad saga for the North County I ask you all. What will it take to change and are you willing to make it happen? February 24 - Chapter Meeting Good news for the Chapter! We are working on a riding area in Wayne County! We are still in the meeting stage but it looks really good for us! I am hoping to have more information at the March 30th meeting. We have been invited to Canandaigua Motorsports Open house, April 26. If any one would like to help out please let me know. This is an all day event and it’s a lot of fun. We need to get our information out there to pick up new members and this is a great place to do it! I am counting on members to help out and donate some time. We need to boost membership and with the “new” riding area this is a good place to start! Officer Elections will be held at the April’s meeting. If you are interested in any of the positions please let me know.
