Applications We have added that the prorated amount does not cover former members. Parade Just reminding everyone that Greg has set us up for the Charlton Founder's Day Parade on Sunday June 7th. The parade starts at 2:00 PM but you need to meet where the parade starts at 1:00 PM. So far he has only a couple of definites that are going, along with my brother and I. It wouldn't hurt to have a couple of more people. Anyone who knows they can attend for sure, please email Greg at stomper24@hotmail.com and tell him where you're coming from so he can give you directions. This should be a nice event to put us in the public eye, there are lots of people in that area with ATVs, and I'm sure some people in the Charlton Snowmobile Club have ATVs as well and they will be there. It would be nice to recruit a few new members. We have one Razor coming, which is great! I thought it would be cool to have a side-by-side or two in the parade. If you can help out please e-mail Greg. Facebook/MySpace The club now has Facebook and MySpace pages- check them out! http://www.facebook.com/profile.php? id=1594855723&ref=profile www.myspace.com/NCATVA If you would like anything added to these pages including pictures or have any question please e- mail them to atverchick@yahoo.com. Krystina will be working on these sites for the club. If you have any questions, ideas or suggestion please e-mail or bring them to the next meeting. This is your club and the direction and future depend on your ideas. ~ Moak Remember to stay on the trail and respect the land and the landowner! OVH Ridding is a privilege, not a right! Next Poker Run • Saturday, October 10, 2009 • Everyone, please plan on coming out and helping your club! If we get enough help, everyone can also ride at the event!!! ~~~~~ Meeting minutes from May 12, 2009 We had 10 members and three guests at this meeting. The treasurer’s report was given by Ron Horton. Dave Stetson made a motion to accept, Cindy Hitchcock seconded. Passed unanimously. GPS Pam has re-GPS’d the Green trail and updated the trail map, and will post it online soon. Trail Changes • Parking moved across the road from last year. • Trailhead is through the gate near the paved road. • Very little two-way trail left after spring’s modifications and updates. • Reviewed the Green trails with Fred Morrell and his Kawasaki Teryx and made sure they are wide enough for UTVs up to 60” wide and 116” long. Thanks, Fred! Memorial Weekend Ride... ...was a blast! No breakdowns for the first time in history…’course we didn’t have any Polarises with us this year...LOL! Night Ride? There has been some interest in planning a night ride for club members. This will be discussed at our next meeting and we are looking for ideas and input, so please plan on coming! Next Club Meeting Saturday, June 13 at Demon Run ATV Trails. 12:00 PM dinner, with the meeting and ride to follow. Bring your $10 parking fee and a dish to pass. The club will provide Hamburgers and hotdogs, rolls, condiments and drinks. Michelle Stetson and Jim Hitchcock have volunteered to cook! Let’s Ride, ~ Pam & Gary Burns Chapter News NYTRO Northern NY Club Officers President-Mike Bellinger e-mail: nytroofnny@yahoo.com phone: (315) 232-2076 Website: http://www.nytronny.com/ ********** NEWS FROM THE NORTH May 2009 There constantly seems to be less time to get things accomplished on time for which I am sorry! We had an informal meeting to reactivate the Jefferson County ATV Association. Along with NYTRO NNY and Black River Valley Riders (the last two Clubs that still manage and promote Tri County ATV development through the THAATVA) were the Lodge ATV, Indian River ATV and Winona Forest Recreation Association along with Scott Burto and Joe Onyon representing Region 6. Rivergate Wheelers where absent. The basis for the meeting was to discuss Insurance. BR and NYTRO already have the NYSORVA policy so any other club would have to join the THAATVA or purchase a separate policy. Pros and Cons where discussed. It is obvious that we all need Insurance if there is any hope to develop the trail system. It was discussed that TILT may mandate Insurance so any person who rides may be ticketed if they don’t belong to a participating Club or those Clubs that do not participate in Insurance will no longer be recognized. Applications will be submitted so time will tell. As far as the Northern chapter we are busting trails every weekend and signing. If we have any luck the much needed tractor grant from Yamaha will come thru. The heavy 2WD Ford I borrowed to move the 4 truck loads of bank run sunk out of site. Even with the bucket, I couldn’t push myself to higher ground and waited seven hours for help in getting towed out. The Weston Corners lot which was supposed to be a simple quick clean up and signing turned out to be another full blown cut the 19 trees that came down over the last several storms. I will attempt to get that signed this weekend. The Back Yard loop was delayed due to a short five foot culvert leading from the gravel pit to the trail that was not safe to ride over. I acquired another five foot piece to splice into it so we can resume operations there. After working my whole Holiday weekend, I finished building the access road on the Lorraine Loop and officially opened it. The County Coordinator has called the highway department several times asking them to sign the County Roads and will contact the Worth Supervisor to try and get the missing link open. The DEC has stumped us again in the Adams direction so more work there. I have the new Trail Maps; the are $5.00 plus $1.20 to mail them. Until we ride again be Safe, Michael Bellinger President/Membership Coordinator/Trail Manager NYTRO North I’m Sinking Fast! So close...
