The carport -we will be holding off to spring to have it installed. It has been ordered and the company said they will hold it until spring. With the snow coming we are checking in to the cost of having the drive way and parking area plowed. If there is enough members interested in winter riding. If you are interested in winter riding we need to hear from you,. As of now the O’Keefe Rd will be plowed for a town turn around and there is a small parking lot. We are looking in to purchasing at least 3 more utility trailer to tow behind the ATV’s. Scott and Moak are checking in to the ones at tractor supply. We will be purchasing some after the storage container can be located. Storage container Jim has said if we can locate one that needs to be picked up he would go get it for fuel and tolls. We need to find out size and weight. If you know of a place that sells them please let one of the officers know so we can get a price. Lease or buy equipment, drainage pipe, possibility of placing the bridge from Greenfield on trail #2, maybe added a couple of more bridges, The trail committee will be getting a list together of what supplies they will need. Any member can cut trees that are down on the trail. January 25th is the Sportsmen & Outdoor Recreation Legislative Awareness Day. This event will again be held in the well of the state legislative office building (located at the intersection of South Swan and State Street Albany, 9am-1pm. We have RSVP to this event. If you would like to join us please let one of the officers know. You MUST bring a photo ID with you. Movies were given to Scott to bring to Greg for the Troops. Message from Greg M A coworker of my mother's has a son stationed in Afghanistan. There's a lot of downtime and the troops really enjoy watching movies. Her son asked her mother if she knows anyone with old DVDs they don't watch anymore and want to part with so I figured I'd post on here and see if any club members had any old DVDs they'd want to send over. I could collect them or if we got a lot I could probably get an address and we could send them ourselves. If your are interested in helping out our troops with DVDs they can be mailed to Ft. Drum 10th CAB (Combat Aviation Brid.) HHC 1-10 ATK BN A little note with a thank you from North Country ATV Association would be a nice touch. Thank you to anyone who contributes’ January Meeting notes The members voted to allow the trail committee to spend up to 10,000. On equipment. The committee is looking to purchase a skid steer. If you know of one that is for sale please let one of the committee members know. Moak will be contacting the insurance company to see if we need to have a rider added to the policy to cover the equipment. Voted not to rejoin NYSOHVA at this time. We do not need the insurance they offer, there is no real benefit we would see for the price. They require $5 per single membership and $10. Per family membership, $3.50 of that goes to their insurance. Harold has offered to continue to plow the driveway and parking lot. The club has given him a free family membership and will reimburse him for his gas. He will give a gas receipt to Joe to turn in for payment. With the purchase of the equipment next year the club will be able to plow. Storage trailer has been purchased and will remain where it is until we can get it moved to the property. Mike and Jim have been going over to shovel the roof. Moak, Mike and Jim will be going over to put supports in to help with the snow weight. Thanks you to Chris and Rick for taking the day off of work to attend the Sportsman show in Albany, We made a lot of contacts and had positive support. Jeff from NYSOHVA also attended and shared our table. The UTV bill is being delayed because the manufactures are fighting it, they want the UTV’s to have their own class Utility Vehicle not ATV. The bills are in the process of being amended. Membership cap was voted to be eliminated with the option of revisiting it if needed. The membership also added a renewal late fee . The last fee would start October 1st with a $25 charge for every month late. It will be to your benefit to renew on time. There was a motion put on the floor that we maintain 1 years lease fee’s at all times. This was tabled until we get more information. We will discuss this at February’s meeting. The club will be purchasing more utility trailers for club property use, when the storage trailer is at the property. Scott and Moak have looked at the ones at tractor supply . They both feel these trailer would work best for our needs. If you have any other idea or know where there is one you think would work well for us please let them know. Guest forms are still in the property mailbox. If you see they are getting low please let someone know, Membership cards. We are checking in to having some made for the members that want to attend events that require them. A PDF file was also suggested to e-mail to members to print. For the member that do not have e-mail they can supply us with a friend or relative’s. the library also offers free computer use. If you know someone who want to receive the newsletter and doesn’t have e-mail please tell them to supply and alterative e- mail. I would like to thank the members that came out to the meeting and gave great input. I think a lot was accomplished. The members had a lot of great ideas , questions were asked and answered and I hope this gave everyone the knowledge to make an informed decision. Saturday, April 2nd NYTRO annual meeting. April10 ~ Monthly Meeting - Gander Mountain. 12pm NYTRO CENTRAL NY UPDATE: Kids Just Want to Ride Act, .R. 412, Introduced! Contact your Representative to Cosponsor Today! On Jan. 25, Representative Denny Rehberg (MT) introduced .R. 412, the Kids Just Want to Ride Act of 2011, which would exempt kids' off-highway vehicles (OHVs) from the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008 that effectively bans their sale beginning May 1. The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) strongly supports this bipartisan effort and is urging everyone to contact their Representative to become a cosponsor today. H.R. 412 is the most promising and viable legislative remedy available to permanently exclude kid-sized motorcycles and ATVs from the unintended consequences of the CPSIA. The AMA thanks the countless concerned enthusiasts that have already contacted their Representatives to support this legislation. However, we are facing a fast-approaching May 1 stay of enforcement deadline and you must continue to contact your member of Congress to help the Kids Just Want to Ride Act of 2011 move toward passage. You and everyone you know that is concerned with the future of youth riding needs to contact your Representative and ask them to cosponsor H.R. 412, the Kids Just Want to Ride Act of 2011. You can write your member of Congress by following the "Take Ac- tion" option and sending a letter directly to their office in Washington, DC. You can also call your Representative. Tell your Representative to cosponsor H.R. 412, the Kids Just Want to Ride Act of 2011 immediately.
