Dave (585) 334-0122 or dwells@rochester.rr.com The Trailer Handbook Covers Everything Important for Towing By David Wells This is the book that I wished I had been able to find and read when I started trailering powersports equipment many years ago. That’s because it has all the answers to all the questions I ever had about trailers and their use. Written by Clint Lancaster, Technical Director of the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM), and Richard H. Klein, PE, of Klein Consulting Engineers, this 142-page soft-cover book is absolutely the most comprehensive document on light trailers that I have ever seen. It condenses decades of learning into one easy-to-read reference book that covers everything you will ever want or need to know about the subject, ranging from trailer construction and towing equipment to loading and use of a trailer. There’s also detailed information on trailer maintenance and troubleshooting. And it does it in clear, concise, and understandable language. Although it is not intended to replace the owner’s manual, if there even is one for your light trailer, The Trailer Handbook – A Guide to Understanding Trailers and Towing Safety, is actually a far more valuable publication in most respects. It starts with the basics and does not assume that the reader knows anything about trailers and towing. Furthermore, it is very well illustrated with photographs, line drawings, charts, graphs, and check lists that help the reader understand key concepts. It also includes a good list of reference resources and a very valuable glossary of terms that will definitely help the uninitiated get up to speed quickly. And all this makes it a very valuable resource for anyone who is getting into hauling a trailer. Even someone who has been trailering for years can learn a lot from this book, especially if they are moving from a small trailer to something larger and more complex. The section about maintenance is really worth reading because it tells you what to do and shows you how to do it correctly and safely. If nothing else, this book will sort out the mysteries of trailer light wiring which was described by one of my buddies as one of man’s great inhumanities to man. The Trailer Handbook is a 6-by-9-inch high-gloss soft cover book with full color photos. It retails for $19.95 and is available now from some trailer dealers, on the world wide web from Amazon.com, and directly from the NATM at www.natm.com.
